Guilty Pleasures
Yes, everyone has a few. For some its food, others, its maybe a cold beer… Mine is not really a true “guilty pleasure”, but is one that others think is stupid. Anyways, when I was in Germany some time back for business, I remember watching a show called “Takeshi’s Castle” on German TV. Basically it was a show entirely in Japanese, with Deustch subtitles… Basically from an english standpoint, unwatchable from a communication perspective… But the show was hysterically funny. I found myself staying up late nights just to watch all the episodes, as they were doing some kind of ‘marathon’ of showings.Anyways, that was the last I saw of that show for some years..
Then a few years back on Spike TV, I see the show yet again, but named “MXC”. Basically they took the best clips from the show, and dubbed scriped comedy over the scenes… which I absolutely think is hysterical. I love this show. Always have. There is just something totally funny about Japanese people falling to their dooms on a crazy amount of obstacle courses…
I dont’ know what it is about the show… but its really funny. I have the first two season on DVD, and plan to get subsequent releases when they are made available.
If you haven’t watched it, give it a try at least.
